Reflection on Module 6

One important thing I gleaned from reading the chapter was that in "1968 120,000 to 2.7 million in 1997 (Sack,1999). indicate that children experiencing learning difficulties in reading acquisition are now routinely identified as learning disabled and served in special education programs (p.264). Another important thing I gleaned from the chapter was that learning disabled in most states was considered to be "remedial and corrective reading" (266). ( The third most important thing I gleaned was when ,Spear-Swerling & Sternberg, 1996) believe that "today, the situation is such that an inability has accrued that reliably sorting children with a learning disability from children who are experiencing difficulties with reading acquisition has accrued" (p.268).
